Pop/Dance/Balearic

Kinky Roland was born in Berlin & grew up surrounded by music from Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre as well as Prince, Grace Jones & Nena.

As a seasoned professional, Roland's music is eclectic and extremely varied & covers various musical styles & genres which is why he is constantly working in the industry at every level.

He started releasing music on the Hos Records label, owned by the infamous Heidi Of Switzerland, also known as Hilary, who gave Roland Faber the Kinky Roland nickname.

His time at Hos Records saw him release Trance, Techno & Hard House for the label under various different guises including Tranceparents, Terminator Benelux, Tunnelvision & Dream Plant & his club hit "The Mighty Machine" was a firm favourite of the late Tony De Vit & a smash at the seminal Trade club in London.

Boy George was a big fan of Dream Plant & wanted that sound for a remix on the classic "Everything Starts With An E", & immediately after this Roland was subsequently signed to George's label More Protein and released several successful tracks. Its a partnership between Roland & Boy George that endures to this day.

Roland was heavily involved in the art school underground of London's Freak-land and joined the offset in the late nineties as an offspring of Leigh Bowery's Minty band, as well as collaborating with the late DJ/producer & Velvet Room/Bootylicious promoter Chris McCoy on various projects all of which gave Roland that all important coolness & seal of approval from his peers.

Man other collaborations have included Mark Almond, Glen Gregory, Princess Julia, Sarah Jane Morris, Linda Duggan, Sarah Muossempes as well as Johnny Slut amongst other names.

Kinky Roland is also a huge in demand remixer adding his magic touch to clients as diverse as Missy Elliot, Sneaky Sound System, Fangoria, C+C Music Factory, Robbie Rivera, Five, Liberty X, Fangoria, Shaggy, Culture Club, Amanda Ghost, Bananarama, Georgie Porgie, Marilyn, Shaznay, Duane Harden & Amos amongst many others. His regular supporters include the likes of Judge Jules, Pete Tong & Steve Smart of Kiss FM as well as been a firm favourite of the dance stations & commercial radio shows including Radio 1, Virgin & Capital FM amongst others.

His seminal remix of Loverush UK Feat Molly Bancroft "Fountains Of Youth" is now considered a downtempo classic, even though it is only out via promo & is yet to be released by the loverush UK label!!

In the rain filled Summer of '08, he was asked by the flamboyant Mark Moore to help resurrect the notorious Acid House act S-Express which was immediately snatched up by the French hipster label Kitsune, & with the first release “Stupid Little Girls” & an album to follow, this is something that is sure to get those creative juices flowing. Shortly afterwards they remixed various artists including Soft Cell for the “Heat-The Remixes” album on Some Bizzare/Universal.

Notably, about three years go Roland teamed up with Mark Loverush to found Loverush UK a Trance & Progressive production team, after much success they then went on to form their own label Loverush Digital that is now one of the UK’s premier underground dance labels.

The first album coming from the Loverush UK act in 2009 is “Plethora” featuring no less then 10 well-known divas including Boy George, Marc Almond, Marcella Detroit, Kristy Hawkshaw & trance diva Andrea Britton.

As well as that, KR is currently writing with Boy George on George's next album & is also working with Chill-Out/Balearic pop act Mini Legend for those after hour moods (the first of which tracks "Taxi" is to be released in '09), & lets not forget more of those remixes the industry love so much!

So, how would you describe the Kinky Roland sound you are all asking?? Lets just have Kinky have the last word “I’d say my style resonates between Progressive Electro & House to Balearic House & pure unadulterated pop!!”

You can’t argue with that!!!
